Engaging with youth through a knowledge initiative, 11 Years Tata Crucible Campus Quiz Singapore 2018

The 11th edition of Tata Crucible Campus Quiz at Singapore on February 8th saw an overwhelming registration across 13 institutions and 65 teams participated in the thrilling event. The winning team of this year’s quiz was from Singapore Institute of Management. The first and the second runners up were two teams from National University of Singapore. Nanyang Business School - Nanyang Technological University, Singapore were the host partners for this edition of the quiz.

As the Tata group completes 150 years in 2018, this year’s questions were interestingly built around 150 and the four pillars that the Tata group has stood for steadfast over the past 150 years - Pioneering, Trust, Giving back to society and global enterprise. The five rounds of the quiz were also labelled in a rather unique manner and included a specific round on questions related to Asia. The rounds were:

  • Conquering Unchartered Terrains
  • Walk the Talk
  • Amazing Asia
  • Play the game beyond the prize
  • One World
Chief guest for the evening, Mr. S Chandra Das, Non-Resident High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Pro-Chancellor of Nanyang Technological University presented the prizes to the winning teams. Delighted to be at the event he said, “Very pleased to be here especially when Tata this year is celebrating 150 years…. To me all the participants are winners today; You saw a group of young minds challenging intensely during this period… The competition they saw this afternoon is only the beginning. I hope they take back this valuable experience because when they go out in the world the competition is even rougher.”

Winner Muthyala Rajendra from Singapore Institute of Management expressed his joy and said, “The hardest part about preparing for a quiz like this is the sheer breadth of preparation required. From business to economics to history and fashion, nothing can be considered an exception because all these fields have monetary implications and thus are business-related. Keeping up with current affairs is a major game changer”.

The winners and runners-up will be invited to the international finale of the quiz slated to be held in India in 2018.
