“Lucknow invariably creates records” said Pickbrain referring to the consistent performance of the city at previous editions of the quiz, ranging from being international champs in the campus edition, to the NTPC duo registering a staggering 125 point win at this quiz.

The prelim with a lovely mix of questions led to the following finalists:

TATA TRACK
Tata Motors : Anil Maurya and Rahul Seth
Tata Motors : Abhishek Sharma and Mukesh Sahu
TCS : Debabratta Mallick and Abhishek Puri
Tata Motors : Mitesh K and Nitish Tewari
Tata Motors : Abhinav C and Abhinav Kumar
Tata Motors : Rishabh Bajaj and Sanketh S
NON TATA TRACK
Standard Chartered Bank : Vikram Mishra and Anshuman Singh
Indus Tower : Prashanth D and Kirti Dev Singh
NTPC : Sanjit Dutta and Chandan Shahi
Proctor and Gamble : Abhishek Kumar and Sripath Hariharan
GAIL : Manmeet Singh and Ravi Teja
DBI : Kamal Narang and Sumit Bisht
The first final was for the Tata employees; five teams from Tata Motors made it to the final with a lone TCS team to battle them. The odds though did not help Tata Motors and a well prepared TCS duo went about their task in a very clinical manner to really offer no chance to any other team. Tata Motors with Rishabh and Sanketh did well to get the better of the other Tata Motors colleagues to emerge runner up.

The non Tata final witnessed a keen battle for the first couple of rounds between P&G and NTPC before the latter decided to accelerate at a pace that no one expected. Such was their dominance that they went on to score 125 points, which is a national record for the year 2012. The quizmaster aptly drew a parallel to “Chris Gayle” for the manner in which they watched the first few rounds and then traded only in big hits. A late burst from Standard Chartered and Indus Towers could not be sustained long enough to challenge P&G, who held on to their early lead and finished a credible runner up.

The guest of honour Dr. Abhishek Mishra – Minister for Protocol, Government of UP, a management graduate and Phd turned IIM professor turned member of the legislative spoke impressively about the role of each individual in shaping the future of the nation and the need to build a knowledge capital base in UP.

The host Mr.Jayanth Krishna, the Regional Head of TCS, spoke about how Lucknow has immense potential to become a huge force to reckon with and that he was glad to see the new benchmarks being set by the city from schools to corporates.
