Mjunction & Vizag Steel take Kolkata honours
Kolkata, Sep 07, 2008: Over a 100 teams on a Sunday evening at Kolkata is a perfect setting for an amazing quiz. An absorbing prelim led the teams into the final of the Tata Track. There were two teams from Mjunction and Tata Teleservices in the final with one team each from Tata Steel and TM International Logistics. In a keenly fought final the duo of Debhashish and Subhasis from Mjunction won the title with the other Mjunction team (Rajiv and Abhishek) edge past Tata Teleservices (Harish Dutta and Sreejib Chakraborthy) in a tie breaker to finish runner up.

The finalists for the external track were:

Reserve Bank of India – Suvendu Pati & Hari Prasad Patnaik
IMS Learning Resources – Charanpreet Singh & Ravi Handa
Vizag Steel – Nagesh & AGK Murthy
ABN Amro Bank – Dr.Jinu Mathew & Ranadurjay Talukdar

The final was a truly absorbing battle with most teams scoring their directs and staying a cluster. As the quiz moved into the second half, the teams from Vizag Steel and Telegraph moved ahead of the others and were in for a neck and neck battle for the top spot.

As the final round began Telegraph were just 5 points behind Vizag Steel but on the first question of the final round, Vizag Steel scored 15 to increase their lead to 20. One the very next question Telegraph replied with a 15 pointer. With one final question remaining Telegraph were just 5 points away from Vizag Steel and it was all on the buzzer. On the final question, as none of the top two teams went for a kill, it was ISB&M which got a 10 pointer to finish third, while Vizag Steel were happy to have won a thriller.

The quality of the quiz, Pickbrain’s humour and number of answers that came from the audience were the highlights apart from the amazing final.
