Coimbatore, Aug 03, 2008: A quiet and cloudy evening with a soft breeze seemed an ideal setting for someone to laze around and stretch in the comfort of their drawing room, but the enthusiastic corporate crowd from Coimbatore flocked to enjoy their debut edition of India’s biggest business quiz.
At the stroke of six, the lights went down and in walked the man Coimbatore has seen before but not at a Crucible. Pickbrain, aptly started the proceedings applauding the Indian team for pulling a test back in Srilanka as he explained the rules of this ‘test’.
The prelim, a very balanced mix of questions from across subjects had the 43 teams thinking and the six team that made it to the final were

The final started with Coimbatore making a rare contribution to the Crucible legacy, the team of Sheilendra Bhansali and Priya Bhansali became the first husband-wife team to ever qualify for a Crucible final. The chartered accountant duo also started in great style taking an early lead but in the round on the Tata’s, Infosys maxed the score cracking all five questions to bounce back. The battle kept moving from one round to another with Robert Bosch also scoring at regular intervals and Infosys building on to their lead.
In the final round, it was all nerves but Infosys held on to their lead and qualified to the national final and won a cash price of Rs.75000/-. The duo from S. Bansali & Associates did well to stay ahead of Robert Bosch to win Rs.35,000/- as runnerup.
A fantastic evening of quizzing, laced with liberal doses of humour from the quizmaster and some amazing audience prizes that kept everyone happy at Coimbatore.
