A quite and cool Saturday afternoon at the serene Chinmaya Heritage Centre was disrupted by some sparks of brilliance from Chennai based quizzers who were part of a fantastic edition of Crucible here. Many of them talking to us on the sidelines of the event had their own emotions and fond memories of the quiz which celebrates a decade of existence. A very craftily framed set of 25 questions led to the following finalists.

TATA TRACK

  • TCS: Sreekanth and Jayakanthan
  • TCS: Varun and Pranav
  • TCS: Vidhyashankar and Barathan
  • TCS: Kaushik Joshi and Abhishek
  • TCS: Ramaswamy and Raghuraman
  • TCS: Ganesh Kumar and M Anand

NON TATA TRACK

  • Cognizant: Kiran Vijayakumar and Siddharth
  • Maarga Systems: Sylvian Patrick and Ananth S
  • Clay6 Education: Balaji Thirumalai and Padhmanabhan S
  • Infosys: Karthik Ramdas and Vinidh Sridharan
  • Ford Business Services: Prashanth Sampath and Sridharan
  • Infosys: Vivek and Senthil Kumar

The Tata Track of the quiz was quick, and entertaining but a completely one-sided affair with Sreekanth and Jayakanthan who have been the national champions of the Tata Track for the last two years sweeping the quiz with a score of 130 points.

The external track of the quiz was a cracker from the word go. In the early rounds of the quiz the duo from Maarga Systems led the quiz with Cognizant, the two Infy teams and Ford right behind them. It was during the buzzer rounds that the battle started changing with every question and the tension was palpable. The duo from Ford surged past them to get into the lead and just then the Infy duo of Vivek and Senthil came up with some gems to get themselves into striking distance. In the final question they went for the buzzer and got a cracker to clinch the title ahead of Ford and Maarga Systems.

The guest of honour Mr.Ananthakrishnan, the CTO of TCS, applauded the teams for their efforts and said “The quiz is a great synergy between of Tata values of learning and sharing” .
