The Bhubaneswar edition of the quiz is always of high intensity and usually represented by a wide spectrum of teams from varying backgrounds said noted quizmaster Pickbrain before the quiz began. His words seemed more like a perfect prediction as the afternoon unfolded.

Quiz host Ms. Rashmi Furtado set a brisk pace to the preliminary round. She presented what would be a tougher set of questions for the city. She also tended to stay clear of helping the teams with any clues given that the teams come well prepared. The teams that made it to the final were:

Wild Card

  • CET :Ms. Ronisha Das and Mukti Swaroop
  • AIIMS :Ranjan and Adarsh
  • XIMB :Sidharth S and Anushka Sinha
  • CET :Prateek and Ankit Singh
  • Ravenshaw University :Pritam Roy and Jayprakash
  • BJB College : Prabhu P and Swapnil M

THE TOP SIX (FINALISTS)

  • CET :Tirtha Tilak and Shantanu
  • IGIT Sarang :: Prateek and Siddharth
  • XIMB :Sanket and Sandeep
  • NLU Odisha :Prajwal & Amogha Varsha
  • CET :Ms. Ronisha Das and Mukti Swaroop
  • AIIMS :Ranjan and Adarsh

The finale was equally fast paced, this time with the teams buzzing at a quick tempo. The IGIT team played very well right through the final not faltering even once. They seemed determined and well prepared. From being runner-up a year ago to winning this year was a reflection of their resolve.

The second place was a keen contest with the aspiring lawyers, doctors and management students all doing well in bursts. While none of them were able to challenge IGIT they all sensed an equal chance to finish second. The aspiring doctors outwit the others by playing a very mature game, scoring where they were sure and then not taking any unnecessary risks.

At the end of the quiz, Pickbrain commented that it was heartening to see teams winning from colleges located in cities like Vellore, Nellore referring to other city champs and now Sarang, a reflection of how new India was emerging as a level playing field.
