A packed auditorium greeted Pickbrain as he walked into the auditorium, with teams from colleges across Hyderabad gathered for the city edition of Tata Crucible The prizes being attractive and the pride of winning this quiz even greater, teams were keen to give their best performances.

The quiz got underway as Ms. Rashmi Furtado ran through a tricky and challenging prelim, leading to the 6 finalist teams:


  • NALSAR :Lokesh and Balaji
  • IPE :Ms Shalini Chaurasiya and Ms. Kakoli Das
  • University of Hyderabad :Zaman Khan and Amitabh Sai
  • Osmania Medical College :Syed Mustafa Hashmi and Syed Murtuza Hashmi
  • Aurora College :Ankit and Aneenad Shastri
  • Gandhi Medical College :Siddharth and Ms. Mrudula

The quiz final was a very interesting battle, most teams started well and after the first couple of questions it was an absolute marathon with everyone running in a huddle. The duo from Osmania Medical College showed their mettle as defending champions with a few crafty answers but the teams from IPE and NALSAR were always in the hunt.

The Osmania Medical team finally broke away from the chasing pack with some good answers and carefully played out strategies to end up as champions. Sensing that the runners-up position was up for grabs, the teams from NALSAR and IPE went head to head, down to the final question where NALSAR answered wrong, giving IPE a well-deserved runners-up title.

The chief guests of the evening, Mr. Gopal Reddy, Correspondent and Secretary, CMR group and Dr. Janga Reddy, Principal, CMRIT appreciated the vast talent that was on display at the quiz.
