Campus Quiz Results - Bhubaneswar – DRIEMS stuns Bhubaneshwar

A young team with loads of determination and self belief can be a handful for even fancied B-schools was the lesson one learnt at the Orissa final of campus 2010. The duo from DRIEMS Cuttack powered their way to the national final for the first time in the history of their college with a consistent performance across the rounds of the final. The day itself began with a record turnout of 164 teams and a well balanced prelim followed by two wild rounds that led to the finals with the following six teams.

• DRIEMS – Sandeep & Anshu
• ITER – Sowmya Ranjan & Pritish
• UTKAL University – Deepak Kumar & Ayesha
• NIST Behrampur – Rohit & Dheeraj
• XIMB – Debashis & Nishit

The initial rounds of the quiz saw the Utkal University team plough ahead with a few fantastic answers only for the quizmaster to warn that teams which lead in the beginning have invariably lost at the other cities. The lead though looked solid as the other teams started catching up.

The XIMB duo, NIST and DRIEMS all started moving forward and a couple of very good answers saw KIIT join the party as well. As the quiz moved into the buzzer phase the tensions began to mount and the answers suddenly seemed to dry out for the Utkal team. In the meantime, one witnessed the steady progress of the DRIEMS team along with NIST and ITER.

The game moved into the ‘slog overs’ and several teams pushed hard on the buzzer only to collect negatives. XIMB actually tried to buzz their way out of trouble but that wasn’t to be. Team DRIEMS at this stage moved ahead of the rest and set a stiff final ball target for Utkal University which they could not hit. It was a great afternoon for DRIEMS as their dreams came true and they won their first ever final.
