Coimbatore – BIT triumph at Coimbatore

WINNER

BIT, Satyamangalam - Ramakrishan & V S Anand

RUNNER UP

PSGIM - Mithun Kamal & M Vijaya Kumar

In a true reflection of how Tata Crucible is slowly becoming a platform for small town colleges and students to triumph and succeed, a young engineering duo from BIT Satyamangalam got the better of some of the regular heavy weights of quizzing in this region to register a memorable victory.

The quiz itself registered a huge participation and the final started after a couple of wild card rounds.

Finalists:

  • GRG School of Mgmt. – Sujitha R & Valarrmathi
  • BIT, Satyamangalam – Ramakrishan & V S Anand
  • ICAI – C J Yeswanthram & Pragadeesh Kanna
  • PSGIM – Mithun Kamal & M Vijaya Kumar
  • CECRI – J Joshua Raj & Vignesh Gopal
  • PSG College Of Tech. – G V Karthik & Saravanan

The final began with PSGIM playing an early power play to establish a quick lead but teams scored in quick succession to catch up and as the battle moved into the buzzer phase it seemed a very even and tense battle.

As the buzzers unfolded, teams made a couple of mistakes to lose ground while team BIT capitalized with a few good blows and looked set to become the first team in the nation to register a half century in this Twenty 20 battle played with the mind.

The final rounds gave all the teams other than BIT a chance to battle for the second spot but it was the PSGIM duo who had recovered lost ground who managed to finish a credible second, behind a very deserving BIT.

The champs were truly gracious in crediting their success to the efforts of their quiz club and were proud to have placed Satyamangalam on the quizzing map of India.
