After a journey across three nations the campus edition of Tata Crucible came down to the national and international finals. The afternoon began with the zonal champions of India battling with each other in the national finale. After an absorbing battle that witnessed some outstanding questions being cracked with great ease and some workable ones being missed, some great strikes on the buzzer that got teams ahead and some strikes that knocked teams back, led to IMT Ghaziabad winning the national title with Symbiosis Law School Pune edging out IIT-BHU and IIM-B to finish runner up.

A quick break and the stage was set for the international finale where teams from Singapore and UK joined to top two of India. The international finalists were:

  • Singapore Management University (SMU): Aaron Wong and Poon Jia Wen
  • National University of Singapore (NUS): Sriharsha Bhat and Karan Prasad
  • University of Strathclyde: Anup Nair and Michael Doroszenko
  • University of Manchester: Mark Hird and Aparajit Basu
  • IMT Ghaziabad: Leo Thomas and Kaustuba KV
  • Symbiosis Law School Pune: Nikhil Joy and Sachin Ravi

The international finale was a very very close battle that moved from one round to another with almost all teams on an even footing and even as the final round approached all teams technically had a chance to win the quiz. It was however a determined Symbiosis Law that got past IMT Ghaziabad and some stiff challenge from the University of Strathclyde and Singapore Management University to wear the international crown.

The guest of honour Mr.R K Krishna Kumar, Director, Tata Sons appreciated the teams for being sharp and informed and advised them that knowledge will take them ahead in life but if they learn to combine that with the right values that will differentiate them and lead them to success in their careers and future.
