NIT-K, Surathkal win Manipal thriller

A lovely evening with a cool breeze on the amazing green landscape of the TAPMI campus seemed an ideal setting for a cerebral evening of Tata Crucible. With over 110 teams battling through the prelim, the final was bound to be a cracker. The six teams that made it to the final were:

FINALISTS
  • St. Aloysius M'lore: Jithin Thomas and Jose Malamel
  • TAPMI: Aditya and Aniruddh
  • MIT: Sandeep and Shivam Shukla
  • ICAI: Ms. Vaishnavi and Bharath Nayak
  • NIT-K, Surathkal: Pushkar and Mintu
  • TAPMI: Vinayak and Sudharshan
The final was a superb battle with all teams starting well, but over time it was the teams from TAPMI, NITK and MIT that had a fair chance of winning the quiz. The team from TAPMI with Aditya and Aniurddh went off to a flying start and kept the momentum to the very end, but two teams showed immense resolve to catch up with them, the other teams from TAPMI with Sudharshan and Vinayak and also the team from MIT.

In a tough final that gave really no room for error or to relax, it was finally down to the last few posers. The duo from NITK took the plunge on the final questions and closed the deal with a remarkable victory.

The guest of honour, was Prof. RC Natarajan, Chairperson, TAPMI made an interesting observation that in the modern era "trivia is no longer trivial" and urged students to learn more at such out of the classroom forums.

RESULTS
  • WINNER : NIT-K Surathkal - Pushkar and Mintu
  • RUNNER UP : TAPMI - Aniruddh and Adithya
