On a Friday afternoon, it was heartening to see several corporates walking into the Taj Gateway for a college quiz. It reflected on the passion for quizzing in the region, irrespective of who the quiz is meant for. Pickbrain commenced proceedings and was soon done with his 20 question prelim that was a shade tougher than other locations. The finalists were:
Ashutosh College: Mriganko Basu and Tushar Kumar Dey
IIFT: St. Xaviers: Rishab Jain and Shubham Agarwal
Techno India: Samanway Banerjee and Rahul Prajapati
Indian Statistical Institute: Arnab Auddy and Rupam Bhattacharya
IIFT: Viraj R Bake and Vishwajeet Singh
Scottish Church College: Rayhean Choudhury and Bikramjit
Champions, IIFT - Viraj R Bake and Vishwajeet Singh
The final had barely begun and the duo from IIFT were blazing away with superb answers. As defending champions they certainly looked sharp and well prepared as the other teams took their time to get into the groove.
IIFT just kept going and were soon past a of score of 50. At this stage they decided it was perhaps time to relax and not overdo anything, lest they take a few negatives. It was then a battle for the second place between St. Xaviers and Techno College, the former winning the tussle on the final question.
The winners went into the east zonal with a strong win at Kolkata and given the form they were in, a national final berth seemed eminently possible.
