Humour perhaps was the actual winner at Amritsar as answers outwitted even the quick thinking Pickbrain. For the first time he even gave away a prize in the audience for the 'most incorrect answer ever heard'.
The Amritsar debut of Tata Crucible was a refreshing evening of quizzing with everyone enjoying the experience of a business quiz in this region for the first time, including Pickbrain who quipped 'Its strange after 1000 odd shows to do a debut again' hosting his first business quiz in the city.
The game started on a cautious note with teams trying to understand the track and read into Pickbrain's googly's and yorkers. The GNDU duo of Jivitesh and Nitish started the scoring with some good answers as NIT-J also got into the act.
The buzzer rounds were fun as teams scored and lost runs trying to push the scores and this ensured teams like Lovely and Kamla Lohtia caught up with the leaders backing themselves with some good strokes. The match certainly looked even at this stage as most teams had a good chance to win the game from here.
In the final overs the tension was palpable as NIT-J kept scoring at regular intervals to keep the pressure on GNDU which had a lead but the margins were too close for comfort. It finally came down to last ball of the match and GNDU held their nerve to clinch the first ever final at this city with NIT finishing second by a very close margin.
